The Fight for Terri's Life - Update
A few days ago PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) made the news here in Bartlesville because they want our DA to throw the book at a couple for miss treating a dog. The police went several times to a house after complaints about a miss treated dog. The dog was not being fed or watered. The police went out 4 times to the house to talk about the dog. One of the officers bought a 50-pound bag of dog food for the people to feed the dog. When the police went out the fourth time the dog had died and there was no food or water for the dog that was on a chain. A very sad story with a very sad ending.
I say all of that because the exact same thing is going on legally today. Not to a dog however, but to Terri Schiavo. Terri’s parents want to take care of their daughter. Terri’s husband wants her dead. The courts are allowing murder to take place and they say that the legislatures cannot interject into the case. 1 judge has created this situation and is usurping his power over the legislature. This is the judicial system overstepping their limits. The Florida supreme court and the Federal Supreme Courts refuse to hear the case. The feds say it is a state issue and they don’t want to get involved.
I feel helpless in this case. However, we have the power of prayer for Terri. My prayer is that God will intervene and let Terri be cared for and kept alive if that be God’s will. If not I pray for a swift end for Terri. I pray for no suffering. Let her pass with God’s speed.
I didn’t take time to get breakfast this morning and about 10 am I was really feeling hungry. That is when I thought of Terri. I had some really big dinners this weekend. I over ate Saturday night and was miserable after celebrating Dianne’s birthday. I had a snack at 10 pm last night before I went to bed. This morning 12 hours later I was hungry. I have had food. Terri has not had food nor water since Friday. I was uncomfortable. I can’t imagine what Terri is going through. If Terri was completely brain dead and not able to feel anything this is still a cruel way to die. Just ask PETA. One healthcare worker stated that when a patient is going through this you can hear their stomach growling from outside the room.
Please continue to pray for Terri and for her parents. Pray for her parents strength through this. I would kill or be killed for my kids. I can’t imagine what they are going through. Pray too for Michael Schiavo. Pray that God will have mercy on him. Pray for his salvation. But mostly pray that God will soften his heart and allow the tubes be put back in and to let Terri live.
