Close the window, there’s a Draft!

Posted at 10:15 in .

The schools in Oklahoma together put more players in the NFL draft this year than ever before. The Big XII produced to some big time NFL top picks Cedric Benson from Texas and Jammal Brown leading the way for the Big XII. OU produced 11 NFL draft picks, OSU with 3, and Tulsa even produced one of only 17 QB’s drafted this weekend. Okay more on this later but Jason White got screwed!

OSU
The Pokes’ top pick came in the second round at the number 56th selection overall going to the Denver Broncos on their first round pick up of Darrent Williams. Darrent is an outstanding DB, which will bring blazing speed and a big mouth to the Mile High team. I hope he can play as well in the NFL as he did in the collegiate level. I have no doubt that he will get some PT this year and become an every Sunday starter for Denver. Myles, you should like this pick!

Vernand Morency was picked in the third round with Houston’s second overall pick, number 73 in the draft. Morency will become a Texan and based on last years injuries in the Texan backfield V Mo will get a start mid season. He is probably one of the most underrated players in the draft. Had Adrian Peterson or Reggie Bush been in the draft this year then I would not be saying this but V Mo will be one of the top 10 best players out of the 2005 NFL draft class. Mark my words.

Billy Bajema, what can I say about this tight end? Every good play that OSU had against OU over the last 4 years Bajema was either catching a pass or providing a key block to spring a running back, QB, or wide receiver. This guy was awesome at OSU. I hope he can make it in the bigs. Perhaps he slipped farther than he should have going in the 7th round and the 249th pick over all to San Francisco. Too bad he went to the 9ers. No offense Jason, I still cannot like Bajema. Just like Alex Smith out of Utah. The top overall pick in the draft the number 1 spot picked up by San Francisco. I think he was underrated in college and should be the number 1 pick but since he is going to the 49ers I cannot like him by default.

Tulsa
Kansas City Chiefs picked up James Killian, QB from Tulsa in the 7th round 229th overall pick. Killian is the pride of Medford high school and all-everything in the state of Oklahoma. He won a State Championship for Class C in 8 man football his senior year. He was awarded all-state by all media sources around the state and was a highly recruited blue chipper. Every local school including OU wanted Killian. Kuddo’s to James for being drafted by the Chiefs. I don’t know that he will get to start since Trent Green is a solid #1 QB for KC. But you never know because Green was a backup for Kurt Warner in Saint Louis until Warner got hurt. Then Green showed what he could do which won him a starting role in KC. Good Luck James!

I will cover OU tomorrow since I have so many players to comment about I don’t want this posting any longer than it already is.

Jason White got screwed!
