Thanks, Ironmen!
What a fun season! Thanks to the Ironmen for a fun time. Nowata fell short of where they wanted to end the season at 6 - 5 but they made the best of what they could do. Injuries and last year's graduation hampered their season. They showed flashes of greatness and some spark for next season. The freshmen group will be the group to watch. I think the Ironmen will be playing for the state championship in 4 years. That is how special this group of kids are. Glenn Maddox will challenge for QB next season. I see a glimpse of him that I have not seen since the 99 season with Michael Swalley but I think that Glenn has more discipline than Michael.
The seniors were a good group of kids too. Nowata had 18 seniors on the squad this year. Those guys were really good guys too with excellent work ethic. My hopes are that they will impart some wisdom to the underclassmen for good work ethic and a never say quit attitude.
The Ironmen just didn't have all the pieces of the puzzle in place to make a long run into the playoffs. They had a good second half in the game against the Wolverines of Holdenville but that first half Nowata didn't have an answer for the high powered offense of Holdenville. They have a good offense with a fast RB and a QB with a good arm. The receivers are quick and they have good hands. They can make a good run into the playoffs but they will probably lose against Millwood.
Thanks again Ironmen!
