OU and the Big Dance
One and Done! I saw it coming. OU didn't finish the season very well at all. They were one and done in the Big XII tournament and ended the season 4 and 4. February 15th the Sooners were blown out in Boulder by the Buffs of Colorado. Then they went on a stretch of 4 wins by 1 point and finally 3 straight losses to Texas, Nebraska, and finally the university of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
Overall OU had a decent year going 22-9. OU was 8 points difference away from going to a record of 25-6 or 18-13. 6 games were decided by 1 point and 1 game by 2. Had the freshman from OSU not fouled Terrell Everett with .02 seconds left of the Bedlam game OU would have lost that game could have ended the season with 4 straight losses. That is why I am not surprised that OU did not win their first tournament game this year. That and OU/Kelvin Sampson have a knack of not winning in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
My focus of the tourney now shifts to Texas, Texas A&M, and Kansas. Along with ORU. Oral Roberts is the only Oklahoma team remaining from Oklahoma in post season play for the men's tournament. The only reason that ORU is still alive is because they have not played yet. They will face #1 seed Memphis. The Golden Eagles can give the Tigers a run for their money. If ORU gets by Memphis they will have a long run and possibly make it to the Elite 8 or even the Final 4. More than likely though ORU will make an exciting game of it but come up short.
So to sum it all up, OU stunk this year. Go Big XII teams and ORU.
